About

The Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is a private non-profit institution, which aims to promote innovation and technology transfer. In order to strengthen the link between the scientific and technological environment and the productive fabric, and to enable the development of new ideas and companies, the IPN consists of six research and technological development laboratories, an incubator and accelerator of technology-based companies, and specialized training.
The Laboratory of Automation and Systems (LAS) is one of the six laboratories of the IPN and aims to solve real challenges in the areas of Health 4.0 and Lifelong Care (with a particular focus on telemedicine and telerehabilitation solutions).
By working with small and medium enterprises, we accelerate technology development and transfer technological assets that generate innovative products, processes, and services to the market. In this sense, LAS is distinguished by its work with cutting-edge technologies for the development of innovative solutions, being its fields of expertise:
- Embedded Systems, Collaborative Robotics, Internet of Bodies (IoB), Validation, Evaluation, and Certification of medical devices and in vitro diagnostic devices.
Taking into account its areas of expertise, LAS prides itself in accompanying companies through all stages of product development (idea creation, prototyping, and testing) up to commercialization.
From a project development perspective, LAS highlights its presence in national and international projects such as H2020, EIT Health, AAL JP, INTERREG, PT2020, ERASMUS+
