The SmartHealth4All project aimed to stimulate, in Portugal, an ecosystem dedicated to the research and development, production, commercialisation, and dissemination of Smart Health medical technologies, based on information, communication, and electronic technologies, as well as future and emerging technologies.
The project brought together distinct fields of knowledge, such as medical and health sciences and engineering, and connected high-tech sectors with traditionally established industries (textiles, footwear, plastics, and furniture), encompassing both manufacturing and service activities. The project also spanned the entire value chain, from knowledge generation to the broad dissemination of the developed solutions, applicable both in formal healthcare delivery contexts and in the daily lives of a wide range of users. From a clinical perspective, the focus was on the prevention, diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of diseases and other medical conditions, particularly those of a chronic nature and associated with ageing—including neurological, cerebro-cardiovascular, cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, and diabetic conditions.
