As part of the Health Scale initiative, Health Cluster Portugal is organising a series of four workshops dedicated to presenting, discussing and validating the findings of the study “New Business Models in Healthcare and Competitiveness Factors”.

The study aims to identify and explore the main opportunities, trends and competitiveness factors shaping the healthcare sector in Portugal. The analysis is structured around four thematic areas: emerging opportunities and market trends, innovative business models, financing mechanisms, and ESG best practices and trends.

Throughout the series, the preliminary findings from each thematic area will be shared, encouraging dialogue between companies and other stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem.

Through a participatory approach, the workshops aim to compare the study’s findings with participants’ experience and expertise, gathering perspectives and insights to help validate the conclusions and ensure they reflect the real challenges and needs of companies operating in the sector.

• Workshop 1 | Emerging Opportunities and Market Trends

This first session will focus on presenting, discussing and validating the preliminary findings related to the identification of key emerging opportunities and market trends with potential impact on the healthcare sector in Portugal.

The session will encourage an interactive discussion on the trends and opportunities identified, exploring their relevance to Portuguese companies and the main challenges associated with turning them into reality.

Following the workshop, participants will be invited to continue the conversation during an informal networking cocktail.

• Workshop 2 | Innovative Business Models

This session will focus on presenting and discussing business models adapted to the ongoing technological transformation of the healthcare sector, including data-driven solutions, digital platforms, outcome-based models, and integrated or modular solutions.

• Workshop 3 | Financing Mechanisms

This session will explore the main existing and emerging financing mechanisms supporting innovation and business growth in the healthcare sector, including European funding programmes, venture capital, blended finance, and corporate venture capital.

• Workshop 4 | ESG Best Practices and Trends

This session will examine ESG trends, regulatory requirements and best practices in the healthcare sector, exploring their impact and potential as drivers of competitiveness for startups and SMEs.
