The EKanban® or double-box Logistics Model aims to ensure efficient logistics in terms of medicine and clinical consumer products, with regard to hospital supply processes, distribution and control of products. The Kanban® model is based on a Barcode solution, which involves identifying each item with a unique barcode. For each item, maximum quantities are defined and will be divided, in equal quantities, between two storage areas. When the material is all consumed from one of the zones, the barcode is read using a portable terminal that will trigger the need to replace the missing item in the Central Warehouse.
