About

Founded in 2002, Instituto de Medicina Molecular (iMM) is a biomedical research institute located in the biggest medical campus of Portugal, having a strategic association with the Santa Maria Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon. At iMM, we do basic, translational and clinical research with a view to contribute to a better understanding of disease mechanisms, to develop new diagnostic or predictive tests as well as new therapies. iMM has over 700 people and has 33 research groups focused in 4 main research areas: Oncology, Neuroscience, Infection and Inflammation & Immunology. Researchers at iMM are supported by a vast number of state-of-the-art facilities, including a Biobank with many established collections representative of human disease, a bioimaging, flow cytometry, comparative pathology and analytical & structural biochemistry units, and facilities dedicated to in vivo studies (rodents, zebrafish and insectary).
