Record-Breaking Growth: Portuguese Health Exports Surpass 5.6 Billion Eur

The Portuguese health sector has reached a historic milestone, closing 2025 with an impressive 37.9% growth in exports. For the first time, the industry has broken the €5 billion barrier, totaling €5.653 billion and securing a 7.1% share of Portugal's total national exports.

Key Highlights of the Performance:

• Leading Products: Pharmaceutical preparations dominate the sector, accounting for 85.2% of total exports, followed by medical devices (10.5%) and basic pharmaceutical products (3.8%).

• Top Markets: Germany has emerged as the leading destination for Portuguese health exports, overtaking the United States. Other key markets in the top 10 include Spain, France, and Belgium.

• Economic Impact: The health sector now represents an annual turnover exceeding €40 billion, involving nearly 120,000 companies and 420,000 workers.
