About

The SAge-Hub project (Smart Ageing Synergies: Strengthening Interregional Innovation through Living Labs and Digital Hubs) is positioned at the intersection of Smart Ageing, digital transformation, and interregional cooperation, addressing the need for capacity building in less developed EU regions to participate in interregional innovation investments.

The objectives of SAge-Hub project are:

  • Establish and Scale Regional Living Labs for Ageing  Smart: Set up a Pilot Living Lab in Romania and a shared virtual living lab in Canary Islands, Greece, Portugal and Catalonia to co-create, test, and validate Smart Ageing solutions.
  • Build Capacity for SMEs to Participate in Interregional Value Chains: Enhance the capacity of SMEs to participate in interregional innovation ecosystems by providing them with tools, workshops, and access to international value chains.
  • Develop and Pilot Scalable Business Models and Investment Pipelines: Co-create and validate investment-ready business models to scale Smart Ageing solutions across EU markets.
  • Foster Interregional Collaboration through the Regional Innovation Ambassador Network: Launch a Regional Innovation Ambassador Network to facilitate cross-border partnerships and policy alignment across participating regions.
  • Integrate Outermost Regions into EU Value Chains: Actively engage the Canary Islands as an outermost region, ensuring knowledge transfer, participation in EU platforms, and integration into EU value chains.
  • Ensure Long-Term Sustainability through Policy, Talent Retention, and Scaling Mechanisms: Develop policy frameworks, talent retention programs, and scaling strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project outcomes.

The SAge-Hub project is financed by the I3 Programme. With a duration of 24 months, the project started in September 2025 and has a total Budget around 1.8M€
