It took place last 11 December 2009, at the Rectory of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, a roundtable meeting on the theme Innovation in Health.
The initiative promoted by the HCP brought together around 70 participants, representing nearly as many entities, including enterprises (in the areas of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices and services), R&D centers, universities, hospitals and several public entities and associations.
The debate was moderated by the journalist Camilo Lourenço, and the discussion panel included Carlos Faro (CNC/Biocant), Isabel Vaz (Espírito Santo Saúde), José Furtado (CGD/Caixa Capital), Julie Brown (AstraZeneca), Miguel Garcia (TechnoPhage) e Pedro Ferraz da Costa (Iberfar).
Among others, the following questions were addressed:
- What is the greatest challenge and what is the greatest opportunity for the health sector in Portugal?
- How can each institution contribute to the development of the sector?
- How to maximize and how to gain value from cooperation among the members of the sector?
- How can the HCP or other institutions contribute to that cooperation?
